Who Am I?

My name is Hunter Douglas Miller. I am a first year McMaster Engineering Student. I hope to specialize in Mechanical Engineering in my Undergrad, while building a portfolio tailored to Aerospace. Over the last 6 or so years, I have continually been developing my design skills in order to get a head start on learning CAD and design principles in order to allow me to design more effectively.

Over the last half-decade, I have noticed myself becoming much more involved in the full picture of projects, which has allowed me to identify and solve errors quickly in a project’s process. This skill has served me extremely well in both my education and my own design work- allowing me to develop faster over time with less errors. While a natural progression, this still felt shocking to me, and only enticed me to learn more skills and work harder to develop experience in the existing programs I am using.

I formally started with Blender 3D modelling design work early in 2022, but had been developing minor projects in various applications beforehand- Blender was just the first software that I decided to dive into fully, rather than scraping the surface. While I have continued to do work in Blender, a lot of my focus has shifted to CAD applications. I began with the Autodesk suite about a year after I started learning blender, first with AutoCAD, and then moving on to Inventor within a few months. Having the knowledge on using Blender before starting with 3D CAD applications really helped me along- both because I knew how to design 3D models effectively, and also because Blender gave me experience in learning unfamiliar, daunting software.
